Go to the Beach in your Bathroom!

Nothin

Nothing like swimming in the ocean! It's so therapeutic to breathe in the ocean air, bob in the salt water and drink in the beauty. What is it about sea water that makes you feel so invigorated, refreshed and relaxed? Besides being away from it all, some of it is because of the detoxifying properties of sea salt and because it replenishes your skin with minerals, vitamins and trace elements that boost your immune system, hydrate your skin, and improve circulation.

The Ancient Greeks knew this and would soak in pools and hot tubs of mineral rich sea water, enjoying the beautifying and health benefits of this activity. While some don't have time for this "luxury," it probably should be practiced more frequently for its tremendous benefits.

Recently, my husband sustained a deep and long gash in his shin that required 11 stitches. His leg became so swollen that the doctor said surgery would be necessary to drain the fluids if it persisted. Taking daily sea salt water baths with added epsom salt for a week was so effective in draining the fluids that surgery was no longer necessary. Plus, the salt kept the wound clean. (He's on the mend.)

If you don't have time to soak in a bath, you can shower with a salt soap bar that offers many of the same benefits. A friend's allergic reaction to poison ivy disappeared after a couple of days when she showered with a Himalayan Salt BarSo, if you can't swim in sea water, bring it to your shower with a salt bar. It's invigorating, cleansing, but doesn't leave your skin dry and itchy as commercial soap bars do. Because of its dense composition, salt bars last longer than regular soap.

After much tweaking, I came up with this recipe for this mixture that my husband calls invigorating and relaxing:

4 cups Epsom Salt
1 cup Dead Sea Salt
2 cups Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
1/4 cup Bentonite Clay powder (optional--it's a gentle detoxifier)
3/4 cup Dendritic Salt (optional--helps to retain the essential oil fragrance)
1/2 oz. Peppermint Essential oil

You can also find several salt bars on my website~(http://www.alphaomegasoaps.com/store/c9/Spa_Bars)

So, you can enjoy sea salt goodness right at home. :)
